Mount Greylock is Massachusetts's highest point at 3,489 feet, located in the Berkshire Hills. The summit features a war memorial tower and can be reached by hiking or driving the summit road. The mountain offers excellent views of five states and is known for its diverse ecosystems.
History
Named for the gray clouds that often cap its summit, Mount Greylock has been a prominent landmark since colonial times. The mountain inspired Herman Melville's writing of Moby Dick and has been preserved as a state reservation since 1898, making it Massachusetts's first state park.
