Mount Arvon is Michigan's highest point at 1,979 feet, located in the Upper Peninsula's Huron Mountains. The summit can be reached by a rough forest road and short hike, offering limited views through the forest canopy. The area represents the ancient geology of the Canadian Shield.
History
Named after a region in Wales, Mount Arvon was recognized as Michigan's highest point after careful surveying determined it was slightly higher than the previously recognized Mount Curwood. The area is located on private timberland with public access allowed for hiking to the high point.
