Hawkeye Point is Iowa's highest natural elevation at 1,670 feet, located on a farm in Osceola County near the Minnesota border. The high point is marked by a stone monument and can be reached by a short walk across farmland. The area represents the gently rolling topography of northwestern Iowa.
History
Named for Iowa's nickname 'The Hawkeye State,' this high point sits on private farmland with the landowners graciously allowing public access. The gentle rise represents the maximum elevation of the Great Plains topography that characterizes much of Iowa.
