#25About Brasstown Bald
Brasstown Bald is Georgia's highest point at 4,784 feet, located in the Chattahoochee National Forest. The summit features a visitor center and observation deck accessible by a paved trail or shuttle. On clear days, views extend to four states and include the Atlanta skyline.
History
The name comes from the Cherokee word 'Itse-yi' meaning 'green place,' but early settlers mistranslated it as 'brass town.' The mountain provides some of the best views in the Southeast and has been a popular destination since the early 1900s.
