Borah Peak
#11About Borah Peak
Borah Peak is Idaho's highest point at 12,662 feet and is part of the Idaho 12ers challenge. Located in the Lost River Range, this peak requires Class 3 scrambling and offers spectacular views of central Idaho's wilderness. The standard route involves a challenging approach and exposed scrambling near the summit.
History
Named after Senator William Edgar Borah, this peak is not only Idaho's highest but also one of the most prominent peaks in the region. The 1983 Borah Peak earthquake, magnitude 7.3, occurred near the mountain and created a visible fault scarp that can still be seen today.
