About Spaulding Mountain
Spaulding Mountain reaches 4,011 feet and is traversed by the Appalachian Trail. The forested summit offers limited views, but the trail provides pleasant hiking through typical Maine woods terrain. The peak is often climbed as part of a longer traverse including Sugarloaf.
History
Spaulding Mountain was named for a local family prominent in the area's history. The peak became part of the hiking landscape when the Appalachian Trail was routed through this region. The mountain was resurveyed and confirmed to be over 4,000 feet in the late 20th century.
