Mount Waumbek
#46About Mount Waumbek
Mount Waumbek stands at 4,006 feet and is part of the Pliny Range in the northern White Mountains. The summit is wooded with very limited views, but nearby viewpoints offer good vistas. The mountain provides a quieter hiking experience compared to more southern peaks and is often climbed with Mount Starr King.
History
The name 'Waumbek' comes from the Abenaki language, meaning 'white mountain.' The peak has been part of the trail network since the early 20th century. The Starr King Trail, the primary approach route, was established by local hiking clubs and provides access to both Waumbek and neighboring peaks.
