Mount Tecumseh
#48About Mount Tecumseh
Mount Tecumseh stands at 4,003 feet (though recent measurements suggest it may be slightly under 4,000 feet) and is grandfathered onto the 4,000-footer list. The wooded summit offers limited views, but the ski trails on the mountain's slopes provide openings with good vistas. The peak is one of the easiest 4,000-footers to access and is popular with families and beginning hikers.
History
Named after the famous Shawnee leader Tecumseh, the mountain became a 4,000-footer list member when the list was established. Modern measurements suggest the summit may fall just short of 4,000 feet, but it remains on the list for historical reasons. The mountain is home to Waterville Valley Ski Area, which has operated since 1966.
