Middle Carter Mountain
#15About Middle Carter Mountain
Middle Carter Mountain reaches 4,610 feet and is situated between Carter Dome and South Carter Mountain. The wooded summit offers limited views, but nearby ledges provide excellent vistas of the Wild River Valley and the Presidential Range. The mountain is part of the Carter-Moriah Range traverse and offers a quieter alternative to the more popular Presidential peaks.
History
Part of the Carter Range named after Dr. Ezra Carter, Middle Carter has been part of hiking routes since the late 1800s. The mountain is less frequently summited as a standalone peak but is often climbed as part of the Carter-Moriah Range traverse, which extends from Carter Notch north to Gorham.
