The peak offers outstanding views and is typically climbed as part of the Franconia Ridge Loop, one of the most popular hikes in New England. The summit features extensive alpine terrain and connects to Little Haystack Mountain via a scenic ridge walk.
History
Named after President Abraham Lincoln, the mountain shares the Franconia Ridge with Mount Lafayette and is a highlight of the White Mountains. The ridge became famous in the hiking community during the early 20th century, and today thousands of hikers traverse this spectacular alpine zone each year. The mountain played a significant role in establishing the importance of alpine conservation in New Hampshire.
