History
The mountain's patriotic name reflects New Hampshire's Revolutionary War heritage. Liberty has been a hiking destination since the establishment of the White Mountain trail network in the late 1800s. The Liberty Spring Trail, the primary route to the summit, was built in the early 20th century and remains a popular approach.
