Mount Field reaches 4,340 feet and offers stunning views from several outlooks near the summit. The mountain is part of the Willey Range and is often climbed as part of a traverse including Mounts Willey and Tom. The summit area features interesting sub-alpine vegetation and good views of the surrounding peaks.
History
Named after Darby Field, who made the first recorded ascent of Mount Washington in 1642, this mountain has been a hiking destination since the Crawford Path era in the early 1800s. The mountain is part of the historic trail network connecting Crawford Notch to the Presidential Range.
