Mount Bond
#14About Mount Bond
Mount Bond stands at 4,698 feet in the heart of the Pemigewasset Wilderness. The summit offers spectacular views, particularly towards the Franconia Range and Twin Range. The mountain is remote, typically requiring a long day hike or backpacking trip to reach. Bondcliff, a dramatic southern extension of Mount Bond, provides some of the most spectacular cliff-edge hiking in New England.
History
Named after Professor George P. Bond, a Harvard astronomer, the mountain has been a destination for backcountry hikers since the early 20th century. The peak is one of the more remote 4,000-footers and epitomizes the wilderness character of the Pemigewasset region. The Bondcliff Trail, which traverses the summit area, offers some of the most dramatic alpine scenery in New Hampshire.
