History
Named after early miners who worked the area wearing leather clothing, Leatherman Peak has a rich mining history. The surrounding area was heavily prospected in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Today, it stands as one of the premier mountaineering objectives in Idaho, attracting climbers who are working on completing all nine of the state's 12,000-foot peaks.
