Hyndman Peak
#9About Hyndman Peak
Hyndman Peak stands at 12,009 feet in the Pioneer Mountains, making it the only Idaho 12er located outside the Lost River and Lemhi ranges. At barely over 12,000 feet, it holds the distinction of being the 'easiest' of the Idaho 12ers with a Class 2 rating, though it still requires solid hiking and scrambling skills. The peak offers beautiful views of the surrounding Pioneer Mountains and Sawtooth Wilderness areas.
History
Named after early pioneers in the region, Hyndman Peak sits in the Pioneer Mountains west of the Lost River Range. Despite being the 'easiest' of the Idaho 12ers, it provides an excellent introduction to high-altitude climbing in Idaho and serves as a popular training ground for climbers preparing for the more technical peaks in the challenge.
