Pyramid Peak
#46About Pyramid Peak
Pyramid Peak towers at 14,029 feet (4,276 m) as one of the more dangerous 14ers. The peak features extremely loose, rotten rock on all routes and requires careful route-finding and solid scrambling skills. Together with the Maroon Bells, it forms part of the 'Deadly Bells' due to numerous accidents from rockfall and loose terrain.
History
True to its name, the peak's pyramid shape is distinctive from many angles. Despite its beauty, the peak has a dark reputation due to the poor rock quality and resulting accidents. Many experienced climbers consider it one of the most dangerous standard 14er routes.
