Mount Belford stands at 14,202 feet (4,329 m) and is commonly climbed with neighboring Mount Oxford as a double-peak day. The standard route offers a straightforward ascent with beautiful alpine scenery. The peak sits in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness and provides excellent views of the surrounding Sawatch Range.
History
Named after James Belford, a congressman from Colorado in the 1870s and 1880s, the peak has become one of the most popular double-peak combinations when climbed with Mount Oxford. The area was minimally mined compared to other Sawatch regions.
